Dr. Tatiana Havryliuk

The Shift Report welcomes Dr. Tatiana Havryliuk, who has taken her passion for teaching and her wide-ranging experiences around the world and built HelloSono. She shares with the Shift Report how she got started, what she faced building a new business, and how HelloSono is helping hospitals and clinics build high-quality sustainable ultrasound programs around the country.

Summary:

Tatiana Haverlich, a New York City-based physician, shared her journey in emergency medicine, highlighting her passion for the field due to its unpredictability and procedural opportunities. She discussed her global health work in Haiti, Mozambique, and Nepal, where she contributed to the development of emergency medicine. Tatiana also emphasized her interest in ultrasound, which began during medical school and has since played a crucial role in her clinical decision-making. Recognizing a need for broader ultrasound use in medicine, she founded Hello Sono, a company designed to expand Point-Of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) training and integration into clinical practice.

Tatiana highlighted the necessity of better training and standards for POCUS, particularly in primary care, urgent care, and rural hospitals. Through Hello Sono, she provides workshops and image review services to help medical providers achieve proficiency. She also stressed the financial benefits of implementing POCUS, as it offers billable CPT codes that can generate revenue.

In discussing business development, Tatiana emphasized the importance of focusing on essential tasks rather than trying to do everything at once. She underscored the need for a strong legal team, knowledgeable advisors, and a flexible mindset. Additionally, she warned against excessive consumption of business advice and instead recommended seeking experienced mentors. Surrounding oneself with supportive individuals was another key point she highlighted.

Tatiana and Til also explored the success of the ultrasound program at Inova Fairfax Hospital and the potential for collaboration with the EMCentric platform for hiring ultrasound reviewers. They further discussed Til’s podcast series and the possibility of featuring Tatiana’s business coach, who specializes in entrepreneurial operating systems.
